A Word to the Seeker
There are souls in every land who feel that the common teaching of our day no longer answers the cry of the heart. They believe in God, but the Image offered them has grown dim and far away. They love the Christ, yet the Christ they are shown is clothed too much with the garments of controversy and not enough with living Light.
The work of the Church of Illumination has ever been to recall such souls to the inward sanctuary, where God speaks in the silence, and to show that true religion is not a matter of opinion only, but of ordered life and conscious union with the Divine. Heliobus Sanctorium is one small lamp set in that larger service, devoted to instruction, correspondence, and quiet exhortation for those who feel the darkness of this time and yet will not surrender their faith.
The Inner Light
Within every man and woman lies a spark of the Divine, placed there by the Father of Spirits, that in due season it might be fanned into flame. The world calls this conscience, intuition, or nobility of character. The teachings of the Church declare it to be the beginning of the Soul, that which may be developed into conscious union with God.
When this inner light is neglected it burns low, and the individual drifts with the crowd. When it is obeyed, the life begins slowly to take on order, purity and strength. The Sanctorium exists to aid that inner work: to encourage self-examination, to set forth the laws of soul growth, and to remind the student that God has not left His universe without guidance.
The Purpose of this Work
This outreach is not designed for curiosity, nor to add one more voice of dispute to the noise of the world. It is meant for those who are willing to study, to think, and to bring their daily conduct into harmony with what they already know to be right.
Through essays, study circles, and private correspondence, we seek to present in simple form the teachings that concern: the nature of the Soul, the laws of regeneration, the sacredness of affection, and the way in which the Christ Life may be born within. The tone is conservative and reverent, in full loyalty to the Person of Jesus the Christ, yet mindful that His Gospel has a depth rarely touched by the surface mind.
If You Would Inquire
Those who feel drawn to this work, and who desire to know whether they may rightly take part in it, are invited to write in all simplicity to:
No pledge is asked beyond honesty of purpose and a willingness to live in obedience to the Light already received. The rest time itself will show, if the seeker is faithful.
